Residential Life Assistant
Role:
The Assistant Dean of Student Services’ responsibility is to work with the Dorm Parent to administer the residential life of the school in the spirit of Design ’94 and the Mission of the school.

Essential Selection Criteria
- BA / BSc from a recognized college/university
- Preferably Diploma or Certificate from a recognized Secretarial course
- Have one year minimum of residential Life experience with acquired knowledge
- Have basic knowledge of overall KIS procedures and offerings
Responsibilities
- Support KIS guiding principle
- Confidentially and accurately maintain records.
- Knowledgeable about the software used by the school.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Residential Assistant (RA) or Residential relief (RA), is a support position typically identified for KIS student residences
- The RAs will work in shift system on weekdays and will be expected to do a full day shift on either a Saturday or Sunday.
- RAs will get 02 days off in a week including one weekday and one Saturday or Sunday
- The primary role of a Residential Assistant is to support and create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive living environment for the students who reside in the student residences.
- The specific duties and responsibilities of a Residential Assistant may vary depending on the Residence to what they are alloted and the size of the student residence, but generally include the following:
- Ensure Students adhere to the timings and activities as cited in the KIS Residential Life Policy
- Act as a resource and point of contact for students providing information and assistance, as required.
- Foster a sense of community and belonging among students
- Address resident student's concerns, questions, and conflicts as they arise.
- Promote and enforce safety and security policies within the student's residence
- Promote and enforce safety and security policies within the student's residence
- Conduct regular rounds to ensure a secure and peaceful living environment.
- Plan and organize social, educational, and dorm bonding activities. Encourage student participation in these activities to build a sense of community.
- Be involved with extracurricular activities on campus including sports, drama, hiking, chaperone duties, etc as directed by the Department of Residential Life
- Mediate disputes and conflicts between students, as and when they arise. Report these disputes to the Residential Parent at the earliest available opportunity
- Help facilitate open communication and conflict resolution processes.
- Enforce residential policies and rules, addressing policy violations appropriately (by means of consequences laid down by the Residential parent) including media policy, device policy, and substance policy
- Report any violations to the appropriate authorities including residential Parent and Dean's office
- Assist in responding to medical emergencies or other crises within the residence hall.
- Collaborate with campus security and other relevant departments during emergencies.
- Maintain an environment in the student residence that fosters personal and academic growth.
- Maintain records and reports related to Student interactions and incidents.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the residential experience.
- Participate in training programs and meetings to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Stay up-to-date on KIS policies, resources, and services.
- Assist student residents with special needs (prescribed medications, food requirements) or accommodations.
- Set a positive example for students and staff in terms of behavior, responsibility, and respect for others.
- Uphold a high standard of conduct and professionalism.
- Residential Assistants play a crucial role in creating a positive and supportive living environment for students, and their work can have a significant impact on the overall college experience.
- Any other work as assigned by the Dean/Assistant Dean and administration.
