Network/Computer Technician

Position Start Date: July 2023

Position Description: The Network/Computer Technician assists the IT team in all computer and network related issues, providing technical assistance in maintaining and setting up IT systems. The candidate is also expected to operate, and maintain voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment. 

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Qualified for computer and network repair and maintenance, demonstrating theoretical and practical knowledge and skill for the position

  • Minimum 1 year recent experience in computer parts, computer and network maintenance and repair

  • Ability to work with limited supervision using standardized practices and methods

  • Physical ability to perform the job which entails occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job will entail about 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing

  • Strongly IT literate with good knowledge of MS applications, Microsoft AD, and others

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for hardware and software 

  • Troubleshoot problems with PCs, servers, software, communications devices

  • Troubleshoot problems with Audio devices, Video Teleconference devices, projectors, printers

  • Provide end user IT support via phone, email or in person

  • Maintain desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, software

  • Configure and maintain all WIFI routers and controllers 

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all fibre cable connections, media converters

  • Provide maintenance and Troubleshoot problems for surveillance camera system

  • Testing and configuring software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices

  • Configuration and Maintain firewall (Sophos)

  • Configuration and Troubleshoot L3 switches, point to point wireless bridge

  • Designing and installing well-functioning computer networks, connections and cabling.

  • Performing troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network.

  • Testing and configuring software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices.

  • Install well-functioning LAN/WAN and other networks and manage components

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all network connection classroom, office area, apartments students' dorms, computer lab and library

  • Fulfill any other duty assigned by the Principal
