Kodaikanal International School is a 124-year-old dynamic international school with a rich history of holistic education, offering the IB continuum of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP) to our learners. Role:

The Communications Officer at Kodaikanal International School (KIS) is responsible for managing the creation and dissemination of all external and internal content and in assisting the Chief Marketing Officer in the development and execution of all Marketing programs.

Qualifications & Experiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor/Master degree in Communication, Journalism or a related field
  • Previous experience in a Marketing Department preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience

Preferred Hard Skills and Competencies:

  • Market knowledge and in-depth understanding of the best practices of the field of Marketing Communications both in India and overseas

Preferred Soft Skills and Dispositions:

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to make compelling presentations to potential prospective parents and other external sources
  • An ability to interact effectively and build rapport with industry leaders, HNIs and other reputed personalities across sectors and disciplines
  • Strong research skills, rigour, resilience, persistence and a keen eye for detail
  • The ability to make decisions, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and challenging environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Sales Force, Canva, Adobe and other relevant software tools
  • A deep understanding of digital and social media, and how they can be leveraged to achieve objectives
  • Creative and imaginative with a strong Customer Service attitude
  • Strong problem-solving ability with excellent organization skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, visitors and vendors
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace and with a diverse client population
  • The ability to travel extensively, and at short notice, within India

Reports to: Director of Marketing, Admissions and Development
Coordinates with: All KIS Departments
Time Period: Initial 2-year contract, with possibility to reapply for the position

Responsibilities

  • Write content for all initiatives including marketing and internal communications
  • Manage the publication of all our external publications
  • Manage the publication schedule of our monthly newsletter
  • Content creation for all articles
  • Edit articles submitted by staff members and students
  • Assist the Alumni Officer with the publication of Alumni-facing KIS publications
  • Manage all social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube)
  • Create weekly schedule for posts
  • Reply to all incoming inquiries
  • Assist the CMO in the coordination and execution of marketing and sales programs
  • Assist with the development of materials for prospective parents, students and agents
  • Assist with data analytics and market research
  • Oversee the KIS website for accuracy of information and assist with content creation
  • Creation of all press releases
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other departments, including Alumni Office, Admissions Office and the Development office under the supervision of the Marketing Director
