Real Learning, Real Impact
In Kodaikanal, students experience environmental issues firsthand. CEH brings learning outdoors, making every lesson meaningful and memorable.
Hands-On Courses (Grades 6-10)
Our place-based experiential learning approach gets students grades 6–10 into the field with mandatory environmental courses.
Student-Led Exploration
Through after-school clubs and independent student-led projects, middle and high schoolers can contribute to field studies, conservation projects, and sustainability initiatives in our campus and the Kodaikanal community.
Bringing Class Subjects to Life
With CEH's support, we blend environmental learning into IB and MYP courses like Science, Humanities, and Economics — showing students how these subjects connect to each other and the real world.
Living Sustainably on Campus
From waste-segregation in dorms to campus-wide composting, KIS doesn’t just talk about sustainability — we live it. Here, every student plays a role in reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices.

Life in Dorms
CEH partners with dorm parents to make zero-waste living a reality. Students learn to sort, compost, and minimize waste, turning sustainable living into a daily habit.
Citizen Science
Students participate in water quality testing, biodiversity surveys, and native tree planting projects, collecting data that contributes to real environmental change on campus.
Campus Projects
From native plant gardens to energy, waste, and water conservation awareness programs, and waste-free events students lead projects that make a tangible difference and inspire others.
Opportunities You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
KIS offers students rare, hands-on experiences that make a real impact. Here, students don’t just study the environment — they actively work to protect it.

Cultural Exchange with Global Students
KIS students connect with international peers through the CEH Immersion Program, gaining a global perspective on environmental issues and solutions.
Guiding Visitors on Nature Walks
Students lead alumni, visitors, and fellow students on nature walks across the campus and Bombay Shola, sharing knowledge and their passion for conservation.
Leadership Beyond the Classroom
From organizing campus workshops to participating in environmental events, KIS students emerge as confident, committed environmental leaders.

"Through hands-on, authentic engagement with the land, local communities, and global peers, KIS students explore environmental issues not as distant concepts, but as real-world issues they are empowered to address. In this vibrant nexus of local action and the global connection, our students discover not only their passion—but also their pathway—toward meaningful careers and a future they are ready to shape."

"Being a part of Vanam Diaries connected me with the Kodaikanal locals, and gave me the true essence of life at Kodai. It was my most impactful extracurricular here at KIS, and it made me break out of the KIS bubble and get to experience the real Kodaikanal. I am very grateful to have been a part of Vanam Diaries."

"As a mother, I’ve seen how KIS’s deep focus on sustainability shaped my son’s worldview. Living and learning so close to nature taught him that environmental stewardship isn’t just a subject - it’s a way of life. The experience left such a mark that he returned to intern with the CEH after graduating, eager to give back to the place that first inspired him. It’s been a powerful and grounding influence on the person he’s becoming."
