Position Name: Physical & Health Education Teacher – Female Candidate

Supervisors: Head of Department, PE; Vice Principal, Academic

Start Date: July 2019

Position Description: Teach Physical Education and Health at Primary and Secondary School levels within the IB Primary and Middle Years Programs. Expected to support residential life in a boarding environment.

Preferred Academic Qualifications:

  • B.Phys. Educ; M. Phys Educ desirable
  • Additional teacher certification is valued
  • Additional training in Sports Medicine is valued

Professional Experience:

  • At least one year teaching Physical Education in a multi-cultural or international context
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have, in addition to expertise, the ability to teach students on a school-wide basis i.e. Kindergarten through High School
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Experience as a team coach or event sponsor
  • At least one year teaching experience or equivalent in a multi-cultural or international context

  • Support KIS guiding principles
  • Teach up to 75% out of total instructional periods in a 6-day cycle.
  • Preparation, marking, report writing and all other administration related to the teaching of the subject(s).
  • Participate in departmental meetings, planning, in-service training activities and invigilation duties as required by the Head of Department or Coordinators.
  • Be available to conference with students out of class.
  • Promptly pass information to advisors, residential Parents and Coordinators when student’s attendance, academic performance or behaviour is praiseworthy or giving cause for concern.
  • To be available for work on campus in good time to complete all necessary preparations and meetings before the start of the term.
  • To hand-over all relevant material l to the HoD / Coordinator upon departure from KIS
