Position Description: The Grounds Supervisor for KIS properties and campuses is responsible for the day-to-day requirements of the properties of the Kodaikanal International School including cleanliness of campus common areas, classrooms and academic areas, campus beautification, recycling and solid waste management and regular upkeep of all school properties. This position requires being on call after duty hours to respond to maintenance emergencies.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Ensure that quality standards in all areas of School, Dorms and School housing are maintained by checking the Maintenance Portal for requests made by staff for house maintenance and with the Dean, Activities Coordinator and other staff members for school functions, classroom maintenance etc.
  • Knowledge of Waste disposal and management
  • Knowledge and ability for recycling of solid waste and composting
  • Understanding of aspects for maintaining the school as part of the ‘Green School Alliance’
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken Tamil
  • Confident and accurate use of oral English language
  • Proven supervisory skills, with efficient organizational skills and the ability to execute tasks accurately and assess outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal and client relation skills; possess patience and diplomacy
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office

Desired attributes:

  • A clear understanding of Environment sustenance in KIS and waste management techniques
  • Possess specific experience in roof systems and rainwater management
  • Ability to inspire and lead a team

Responsibilities: The Alumni Officer will assist in the development and implementation of the school’s alumni relations strategy which will include the following tasks:

  • Support KIS guiding principles
  • Responsible for Campus Beautification in alignment with the KIS Style Guide
  • Responsible for Waste Management and recycling at all KIS properties
  • Support all assigned tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager
  • Management and upkeep of school campuses with respect to campus beautification, upkeep of housekeeping work, as delegated by the Maintenance Manager
  • Supervise the Maintenance Department staff; set a positive tone and attitude toward work for the department
  • Ensure maintenance staff are adequately trained and deployed to the best of their ability
  • Maintain records and ensure the upkeep of tools and equipment
  • Establish preventative maintenance schedules
  • Oversee the quality and quantity of work performed on a day-to-day basis
  • Maintain an open channel of communication and collaboration with Maintenance Manager
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal
