KIS Middle School Advancement
During the last 18 months, Kodaikanal International School Council, in conjunction with KIS Principal Geoffrey Fisher, has taken a number of significant decisions to revisit previous project proposals and to work towards their development as part of a new strategic vision for KIS - Towards 2020 - currently being prepared.
- KIS Middle School Relocation
- The relocation of KIS Middle School grades 6-8 from its current position on Highclerc campus to Ganga campus, was completed in July 2009. Here it will share grounds and some facilities with KIS Elementary School
- KIS intends to custom build additional boarding accommodation to meet the increasing demand for entry to KIS and to make provision for a specialist Visual and Performing Arts Center to match the current outstanding KIS music facilities
- KIS Council Project Review Committee is overseeing the work.
- KIS Wilderness Campus and Poondi Program
- KIS Council and Principal are investigating the development of KIS Wilderness Campus, Poondi, as an outdoor education and environmental study center through partnerships with other prestigious independent schools outside India and tertiary links with acknowledged environmental research units both nationally and internationally.
- KIS Middle School Grade 9 program is to be examined in the light of a 16 - 20 week residential program focusing on outdoor education experiential learning with curriculum construction and content delivery based on environmental sustainability and related areas.
These are two exciting new developments for Kodaikanal International School which are built on KIS century-old tradition of innovation in education.
