KIS is an academically selective school with an outstanding record of international student performance for over 30 years in International Baccalaureate, SAT and ACT examinations. 100% of KIS graduating students who apply achieve college and university placement in countries around the world.

KIS has had an articulated policy commitment to student diversity since KIS first strategic document, Project Design, in 1974, which was updated in a further long range planning document Design '94. Specific consideration will be given to refugees and victims of war, terrorism or other world-wide problems, as appropriate and KIS continues to support children from mission and health care organizations consistent with the school's foundation.

Financial Aid to KIS

Financial aid is available to suitably qualified students from Grade 5. Currently over 10% of the student body receives some form of financial support in keeping with KIS Christian foundation.

School Profile
KIS Philosophy Statement: Design '94
  • The student body shall reflect the Christian definition of the school, its international intention and its geographical setting
  • KIS is a college-preparatory institution and students with academic promise are enrolled
  • KIS shall strive to maintain its essential nature as a residential school by limiting day scholars (including staff children) to twenty-five percent of the total enrolment
  • Fifty percent of the enrolment shall be committed to Indian nationals
  • Fifty percent of the enrollment will include students other than Indian nationals, balance representations from various geographical regions
  • The fact that the school is a Christian school, intentionally and historically, KIS shall direct the inclusion of Christian students
  • The composition of the student body shall reflect an attempt to balance socio-economic, cultural, gender, nationality and religious factors at each level of the school, aiming at a 50% balance: male/female, Indian/other nationalities, and Christian/other religions
  • Specific consideration will be given to refugees and victims of war, terrorism or other world-wide problems, as appropriate
  • Children of professional staff, by birth or by legal adoption, will be included in the student body, if qualified and in good standing

KIS Admissions Criteria

  • Students will be chosen on the basis of an application process which considers previous scholastic reports, references, statement of intention, interview, standardized placement test, history and the tension between open seats and balances (nationality, gender, faith) desired at each level
  • Students who are capable and interested in the life-long adventure of learning and whose life goals include higher education as a pre-requisite for career choices are encouraged to apply
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm and an emotional as well as intellectual concern for human beings and the environment are qualities rated highly in admissions criteria
  • KIS total enrollment shall be limited to approximately 650
  • Sufficient budgeted financial aid will be provided to maintain the desired balances in the student body
  • KIS does not provide education for students who have serious educational or physical disabilities
  • KIS is an English-medium school intended for students wishing to pursue a full curriculum in English rather than short-term instruction in the English language
  • All students admitted are expected to ascribe to KIS Mission Statement and Values Statement
