KIS Application Procedure

Admission is open to qualified students at all grade levels from Preschool to grade 12. KIS accepts students for boarding places from grade 4.

Preference will be given to candidates applying to grade 6, 9 and 11. Students who are in 10th standard should not wait for the ICSC, CBSC, Matriculation or any other board examination results before sending their application for admission. The application forms should be sent as soon as possible and copies of the 10th class school reports forwarded as and when they are received.

KIS school year consists of 2 semesters. The dates are as follows:

Step 1: Enquire

Kodaikanal International School has a rolling admission procedure. All applications, as they are completed, are addressed immediately.
The admissions procedure begins by sending a cheque or demand draft for the application fee:

  • Rs 800 for students residing in India
  • Rs 3000 for students residing outside India

Cheques should be made out to “Kodaikanal International School” and sent to:

All correspondence should include a street address and telephone number for KIS to courier the application kit to you. Courier services will not deliver to a post office box.

Step 2: Complete and return application

All forms in this kit must be completed by the parents and student(s). In addition, we request the candidate’s academic records, including the three reference forms, be returned to KIS.

Students who are in 10th standard should not wait for the ICSC, CBSC, Matriculation or any other board examination results. The application forms should be sent as soon as possible and copies of the 10th class school reports forwarded as and when they are received.


Step 3: Schedule visit to KIS

Students who are residents of SARC countries should visit KIS for testing and interview. KIS Admissions office is open throughout the school year, Monday to Friday, except during KIS school holidays. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly and inform us of your arrival date. We prefer to receive the completed application forms, the application fee and all academic information on the prospective student, as well as any additional testing results, prior to this visit.
During the visit the prospective student and his / her family will meet with the Admissions Coordinator, the Principal and be interviewed by a faculty member. He / she will also be required to sit a general aptitude test in English and Math and write an essay on a topic of interest. Lunch in the school canteen is offered and a tour of the campus arranged.


Step 4: Track KIS application forms

KIS Admissions office will contact you each time they receive paperwork from you and also to ensure that all forms required have been received. The Admissions office requires clear communication directly with the parents / guardians of all prospective students during the entire admissions process. Candidates are welcome to contact the Admissions office regarding concerns or questions.


Step 5: KIS registration

After completion of all paperwork and following the visit when relevant, KIS Admissions Committee will meet to determine if the prospective student has met the criteria to be accepted to Kodaikanal International School. If an appropriate match has been made, KIS Admissions Coordinator will send a letter of acceptance to the prospective student and his / her parents. The prospective student will need to respond in writing to KIS Admissions Coordinator expressing his / her commitment to attend Kodaikanal International School for the admissions process to be completed.


Step 6: Registration at Kodaikanal International School

The parent / guardians of the student are requested to send a letter of acceptance to the offer of admission. A security deposit to assure the student’s registration at Kodaikanal International School is required. Once the security deposit is paid, KIS will send further material regarding the registration of the student.


The annual fees for each semester must be paid by the last day of the previous semester (eg for July entry, in May of that year and for January entry, in November of the previous year). As is policy in all schools, records, recommendations, and transcripts are not issued until all financial matters have been settled with KIS.

Application Fee

KIS application fee is used to cover courier costs of legal documents for signing. Costs depend on destination hence the fee variation.
