Staff Accommodation at KIS

The essence of Kodaikanal is distilled from the mixed fragrance of roses and eucalyptus; the sounds of cicadas, rain gently falling on tiled roofs and running water in the Sholas (hillside valleys); wood smoke rising from charming cottage chimneys; sunset on the lake; damp rolling mists contrasting with clear alpine light and Mount Perumal dominating the skyscape.

KIS provides accommodation for all professional and essential operations staff as well as its numerous volunteers. Staff residences are mostly within 5-15 minutes walking distance from the main academic campuses, Ganga and Highclerc.

Staff housing is scattered amongst the school's multiple residential campuses. Accommodation varies from lakeside apartments to hillside cottages or traditional stone duplex housing with attached gardens. Most accommodation has stunning views of the surrounding plains, forested hills and valleys or the picturesque Kodai Lake.

Soft furnishings, basic furniture and kitchen fittings are provided with accommodation. In addition to housing KIS staff members are also provided with a free dish TV connection and energy allowances for electricity, firewood and cooking gas. Water is supplied with housing.

KIS Maintenance department services are available at no cost to all staff on request. This includes assistance with plumbing, electricity, carpentry, masonry, cleaning, removals and all general maintenance of KIS staff accommodation.

All academic and residential campuses are provided with 24 hour security.
