Kodaikanal International School (KIS) is a multiple campus school with world class facilities located in Kodaikanal and nearby national forest reserve in the Palani Hills conservation zone.

KIS consists of two academic campuses

1. Highclerc: incorporating

• KIS High School (grades 9-12)

2. Ganga: incorporating

• KIS Elementary School (Preschool, Kindergarten, grades 1-5)
• Middle School (grades 6-8)

These 2 campuses additionally provide staff residences and student dorm accommodation.

KIS enrichment programs are provided through:

• 54 individual music practice / teaching rooms including Indian dance
• Art center on Highclerc campus and a dedicated art room in the K-8 School on Ganga campus
• Drama studio (the “Box”)

IT facilities
Among the first schools in India to have a networking system connected by a fiber optic cable backbone intranet, KIS IT provision is currently:

• 210 computers running on Windows XP
• 5 recently refurbished computer labs with 12-20 computers per lab
• 4 servers supporting the network (a firewall server,2 file and printing servers and a database / web server)
• Broad band internet connection with 4 Mbps speed
• Internet monitoring system to supervise student internet use with selective site blocking for student protection
• 450 student and staff laptops use the school network

Residential facilities
KIS has 7 residential campuses, 4 of which combine staff residences and student dorms. Their names reflect the rich history of Kodaikanal and KIS century old mission foundation.

Three remaining campuses are solely for staff residences:

• Benderloch (includes Upper and Lower Bendy Fields, the Middle and High School sports grounds)
• Loben
• Jaffna (Lookout)

Student accommodation
In total KIS has 18 students' dorms sleeping 25 - 35 students, each with live in dorm parents. All dorms have their own kitchens for out of school needs.

Staff accommodation
KIS also owns and maintains over a hundred staff residences, a combination of apartments, duplex ground floor houses and stand alone residences as well as a variable number of local houses rented on a needs basis.

Catering facilities
KIS residential catering is provided by KIS Food Services department through:

• 2 main dining facilities with full kitchens (one on each academic campus)
• Gymkhana Snack Bar, a fast food counter for students & staff attractively set in open lawn with outside tables, chairs and garden umbrellas.

Sport & PE facilities
Recreation and sporting needs are currently met on the academic campuses by:

• 2 covered courts (Highclerc and Ganga campuses) for basketball, indoor football, volleyball and badminton
• 3 playing fields for football, cricket, baseball and field hockey
• 2 outdoor basketball courts
• 2 racquetball courts
• 6 clay tennis courts
• 2 children's playgrounds
• weights room

Thanks to the generous support of KIS Alumni, Loch End Fitness Center opened in 2008.  The gym is outfitted with a fine commercial quality multi-station gym, two treadmills, two ellipticals, two upright bikes and two rowing machines.  One half of the fitness center space will be an open area surrounded by mirrors and a barre to accommodate dance and aerobic classes. Training on the equipment will be incorporated into the Physical Education program; aerobic classes and current dance programs will also have the opportunity to use this new space.

Health facilities
KIS Dispensary, known affectionately as the ‘Dish', is a 20-bed facility with the capacity to conduct outpatient treatment, minor procedures and minor surgery. 24-hour health care is available 7 days a week to all members of the KIS community. KIS has a full-time doctor and four registered nurses on staff who are available to students during semester time of each academic year.

KIS has access to two local hospitals in Kodaikanal that provide laboratory and x-ray facilities. Specialist services including emergency care are available in nearby cities - Madurai and Coimbatore. The cost of the KIS doctor’s consultation and nursing care in the school dispensary will be covered within the annual school fee as charged to parents.  Additional costs (x-rays, laboratory tests, medicines, transportation, hospitalization, specialist care etc.) will be charged to the student as and when required.

KIS is able to arrange medical insurance cover on the family’s request.
