KIS Wilderness Campus

In 1994 KIS acquired 92 acres of wilderness campus at an isolated rural location called Poondi, 42 km from Kodaikanal in the Palani Hills. Its purpose was to support an already well established outdoor education program known as the KIS Hiking and Camping program.

Today Poondi is surrounded by national reserve forest and remains in pristine environmental condition. It is used to provide courses and practical experience related to environmental concerns and student leadership training for KIS Middle and High Schools. KIS Alumni and friends also use the site each year for a unique 'reunion' experience and staff families are often found quietly 'camping out'.
  • Currently used for Middle and High School Outdoor Experience programs as well as camps and hiking expeditions
  • Focus of the KIS 2005 Annual Giving campaign aims to take Poondi's development into a new and exciting phase as an IB and tertiary linked environmental research and outdoor education campus providing a full residential program for upper Middle School students.
