Professional Development at KIS
KIS is committed to helping its staff to grow professionally within its teaching and learning community. This includes a commitment to a fair and informative evaluation process that will guide the professional growth plan of every professional staff member.
Every week, one hour is set aside for whole school staff professional development during which they have the opportunity to learn from subject specialists and to share their knowledge with each other.
KIS regularly participates in the IB (International Baccalaureate) and NESA (Near East South Asia) conferences in India, South Asia and Europe. Staff members are encouraged to further their education through ongoing university studies where possible.

KIS Whole School Professional Development Program
Berkeley School in Florida US is a research and development school started by Dr Kagan who has put together a program for imparting teaching skills to professional staff throughout the world. Kagan Publishing and Professional Development is based on a research program conducted by Dr. Spencer Kagan beginning in 1968.
Dr Kagan and his associates discovered that, world wide, children of all ages in many parts of the world became more cooperative when they were placed in certain types of situations. He began a research program to apply those findings to classrooms by creating simple “structures” that allow teachers to guide the interaction of students.
These structures not only lead to greater cooperativeness; they have proven positive results in many areas, including greater academic achievement, improved ethnic relations, enhanced self-esteem, harmonious classroom climate, and the development of social skills and character virtues.
Kagan Structures align instruction with how the brain best learns and engage the range of multiple intelligences and are now used world-wide in kindergarten classrooms and college lecture halls, in all academic subject areas.
