KIS Philosophy

KIS-philosophy

Way back in 1974, our foundation document was created with this goal: “to develop Kodaikanal School into an autonomous, multicultural, multinational, Christian school in mission as a Christian service to children and parents of all communities of Indian and international society, providing an opportunity for a quality education coupled with a specially designed opportunity for deepened spiritual development.” As you can see, we were a truly international school right from the beginning! However, as our current successor long range planning document, “Design ’94, says:

‘This school is not just an international school that happens to be placed in India. India is part of what we are and we are committed to being a constructive part of the life of this nation. Our commitment to Indian society underpins our desire to educate and educate well in this setting. We are committed to education that takes on the richness of Indian history and culture and a progressive stance on positive social change in this context.’

KIS Mission Statement

The School’s academic and residential programs are intentionally set within a community life based on the core of Christian tradition, concordant with our school values, and devoted to service in India and to the whole human community.’’
